The Job

At an operational depot and adjacent grounds in Heston, West London, M.Smithson LTD carried out a rolling groundworks and civils package: trench excavation with new ducting and drainage, access chambers, hydraulic breaking of existing concrete, and setting out and excavating pad foundations for a new structure.

The Challenge

The site remained operational throughout, so every excavation had to be planned, barriered and reinstated with minimal disruption. Existing services criss-crossed the work areas, demanding careful scanning and hand-digging around live utilities, and reinstatement had to match existing finishes.

What We Delivered

• Trench excavation with ducting and drainage runs installed
• New access chambers built and finished flush
• Hydraulic breaking and removal of redundant concrete
• Pad foundations set out and excavated to crisp tolerances
• Brick edging, compacted sub-base and tarmac reinstatement

The Result

Works progressed from first excavations in June through foundations in July to graded, near-finished surfaces by the end of the month — all around a depot that never stopped operating. Precision digs, tidy reinstatement and our own plant on site throughout.
