Cayton village caravan and motor home club attenuation tank

Cayton village caravan and motor home club

Attenuation tank project ongoing at Cayton village caravan and motor home club.

The installation of an attenuation tank is a must in this day and age with severe storms and floods becoming more common across the UK. An attenuation tank allows us to meet new planning regulations and help restrict flooding to the local area, by capturing stormwater and releasing it at a much slower rate. Storm damage does not only affect the area it floods but also anything in its path downstream.

A large excavation was needed in this case removing approximately 500tons of earth to install such a tank. For most other companies, this is a problem as they would have to outsource the excavation costing time and money. However, here at M.Smithson LTD – all our in house machinery is ready to tackle such projects allowing us to be very versatile.

Update – 03/06/2020

With the 500tons of earth safely and correctly removed from the site, the removal of any large rocks and objects and ensuring that the slopes of the excavation are firm. The M.Smithson machinery works together to place, role, and compact the required MOT Type 1 granular material. Allowing us to be ready for the next step to completing the attenuation tank.

Checking for no sharp materials protruding from the trench floor, we have now installed the slopes and trench with protection sheets and battered in accordance with current health and safety guidelines. After checking for tears and making sure no rainwater has pooled anywhere the protective membrane is finished ready for the system installation.
